Editorial Policy
The rules we hold ourselves to — so "trust us" is backed by something you can check.
Independence
Our recommendations are editorially independent. No brand pays for a placement, a ranking, or a good review, and we accept no sponsored placements. Affiliate commissions (see the affiliate disclosure) fund the site but never influence which watch we rank first — when a cheaper or non-earning option is the better buy, it wins.
How picks are chosen
Every recommendation follows our published, reproducible method: we score watches on movement grade, build, water resistance, crystal, fit and price-to-spec value, using specifications drawn from manufacturer datasheets and caliber references. "Best" on this site means best by that stated method — a curated recommendation, not a claim derived from testing we haven't done.
The no-fabrication rule
This is the line we will not cross:
- No invented specs.Every accuracy figure, power reserve, water-resistance rating and dimension traces to a manufacturer source. If a spec isn't published, we say so rather than guess.
- No fabricated testing. We never claim to have wrist-tested watches in a lab we don't have, or to own units we don't.
- No fake ratings or reviews. Our scores are clearly labeled editorial judgments from documented research — never presented as measured product ratings.
- No stale prices.Prices are pulled live and date-stamped; if we can't verify one, we show none.
Sourcing standards
Specifications come from manufacturer product pages, published movement/caliber references, and recognized standards (for example ISO water-resistance ratings). Each money page carries a "Specs & sources" section listing what we relied on. Where we cite owner-reported reliability, we label it as reported, not as our own testing.
Corrections
We make mistakes; specs change and models get discontinued. When we get something wrong we fix it promptly and, where it's material, note it. If you spot an error, tell us — a checkable method depends on being correctable.
Freshness
Prices update automatically and are date-stamped. We re-verify the picks and specs on every money page on a roughly quarterly cycle, and sooner when a model is discontinued or a price shifts materially. When a recommended model disappears, we replace it and point readers to the best current alternative.
